IEST's system of fan voting for the non-Chinese players to attend the event has seen SK's Lyn and Check voted into the competition. They will be joined by the likes of Grubby and Moon.
The IEST will take place in Beijing, China, on November 20th and finish on the 21st. The native players go through a system of qualification while international players were voted upon by fans to decide who would attend. The results of those votes are now apparent as the invites have been announced. SK Gaming's Korea WC3 players June 'Lyn' Park and Hyeong Ju 'Check' Lee will be there in Beijing along with big names like Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuizen, Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang and Sung Sik 'ReminD' Kim.
IEST invites based on fan voting:
Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuizen Pedro 'LucifroN' Moreno Durán Yoan 'ToD' Merlo Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang June 'Lyn' Park Sung Sik 'ReminD' Kim Hyeong Ju 'Check' Lee Dmitriy 'Happy' Kostin
Check has won two ZOTAC cups in the last two months, beating Grubby in one and viOlet in the other, and will be looking to improve upon his performance at the EM Global Challenge Chengdu where he failed to progress out of a group of death featuring Moon and Fly100%. The Blizzcon champion Lyn was also beaten by Moon, in the first round of the playoffs, at the EM Global Challenge Chengdu. At the IEF he found himself in his own group of death and was unable to win a single match. Towards the end of October he won a ZOTAC cup beating FoCuS in the final.
ToD is still firmly on the comeback trail but if he can perform well at the WCG then no doubt there will be those cheering him on as an underdog. Grubby has been on a downswing since his 2nd at Blizzcon, failing to progress from the groups in Chengdu and also falling victim to the group of death at IEF. Moon played well to place 2nd in Chengdu but having to face the winner of that tournament, Fly100%, again in the group stage at IEF where only one player made it out meant he was unable to show his talents in the playoffs.
