I made a micro training map over 4 years ago but never released it for some reason. Oh well better late as never I suppose...
The whole goal was to create a map that would be usefull to both beginners AND advanced players, for training their micro in realistic situations. Since most micro maps at that time really weren't that helpfull for those purposes. (I don't know what it's like now since I haven't played wc3 for ages).
The main feature of this map is flexibility and realism in simulating in game fights. Before you start you can set it up however you like, 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 3v2v1 etc. Any player can be replaced by the computer, and while the computer is useless when it comes to strategy it's pretty good when it comes to micro, so it will put up a decent challenge.
Once in the game you can press f9 for help, but since nobody will read it , I'll write some stuff here. The player who is hosting the game is the admin and has some special commands. Commands are given in chat by preceding the command by a \ followed by the command (I originally wanted it to be a / but it clashed with inbuilt bnet commands ~~).
If the admin types "\custom on" a special custom mode will be activated during wich every player can setup their own units. To delete units you can select them and press escape. To add units you can type "\ ". So for example "\footman 10" will give you 10 footman. Hero's work in a similar way except that the number represents their level. So "\archmage 4" will give you a level 4 archmage. The names for each unit are the names wc3 uses internally, and can be looked up by pressing f9. Once your done with setting up your units type "'\save" to save your current army, this will ensure that you will start with the same units after a round ends.
The admin can also setup computer units by using the up and down arrows to scroll trough all the available computer players. Note that you can see the foodcount of each army in the upper right, wich is usefull if you are trying to create "fair" armies. Once everyone is done and has saved their units, the admin can type "\custom off" to begin the action .
Before (or during) fighting players can equip their heroes with items by typing "\item" and selecting the relevant hero and item in the popup menu. Players can also use "'\tier [1,2,3]" to setup the tier of enabled unit spells (e.g. if you set spells to tier3 and you have priests, they will have the ability to cast inner fire, if you set tier2 they will only be able to cast heal and dispell etc).
One of the neatest features of this map is that it can collect damage statistics after each round. If the admin types "\stats", damage statistics will be sent to the quest log (f9).at the end of a round. In the log you can see for every unittype in your own and your opponents armies how much damage they have done and how much damage they have taken, aswell as how much friendly damage you have caused or recieved. This gives you a good idea what the most effective/ineffective units were during the fight.
Well thats about it, have fun fighting your friends or the computer (or both at the same time).and improving your micro. There are some more commands, different rounds you can setup etc but you'll have to read the help for that.. Also note that there could be bugs, and that I'm not planning on fixing them or in any other way extend or preform any maintenance on the map, it's provided as is, in unprotected form. So if you feel like extending it, be my guest. Just don't be lame and leave the credits intact.
On a final note, during custom mode you can add ANY unit in the entire game of wc3 including all the single player units and other non-playable/hidden units, provided you can find their name. For example try typing "\zergling 10" or "\archimonde 10" to see what I mean ;)
Oh and before I forget the download link: http://rapidshare.com/files/93201894/SuperMicro1.0.w3x.html
